I cut a strip of thin leather that is 60mm (img 5).On the chart, the circumference is 59.5mm (img 7).I ALWAYS get a circumference of ~62mm (img 4), which based on the sizing charts, is ring size 10 US! Fail - I am getting close, but still will be the wrong ring size. I wrap my ring finger with non-stretchable string as seen online from many sources. The easiest method for me is to ask them to take a string, wrap around their finger where the ring would go, mark it and measure it. Then I try to duplicate what a customer would do. All come out to ring size US 9 which is correct. I measure my ring finger on my left using both a plastic ring sizer and the plastic rings. But, no matter how many methods I try, I always come out with a measurement that is nowhere near what my ring size is. I have the right tools, ring measurement charts, etc.īefore I do, I am practicing on myself. I will need to make rings that fit their size.
I am enjoying making leather rings lately and thought it might be fun to sell them on Etsy. I hope someone can help me as I am going crazy over this.
